Ireland’s economic competitiveness could be undermined by hidden weaknesses, the latest report from the National Competitiveness Council warns.
Low levels of state investment in research and rising core costs of third-level education are also of concern, according to the report.
The report, released on 20 July, notes Ireland’s strong macroeconomic performance, one that has lifted the country from seventh to sixth in the annual World Competitiveness Yearbook 2017.
