Strategic funding for research after Brexit in annual budget

Irish finance plans for 2020 include safety cushion for universities and small businesses

The government has allocated additional funds in the annual budget to reduce the risks to research, development and enterprise for when Brexit arrives on Ireland’s doorstep.

The budget awards more than €1 billion to the Department of Business Enterprise and Innovation, the host department for business development and the bulk of research funding.
