Parliamentary committee urges Cern membership

Cost of joining would be offset by increased investment and R&D, report finds

The Joint Committee on Business, Enterprise and Innovation has recommended that Ireland join the Cern nuclear research centre “as soon as possible”.

The committee released its recommendations on 13 November, urging the government to begin negotiations with Cern immediately. It said joining the centre was vital, because of the research and business opportunities membership would provide.
