
Spending on research can deliver jobs and a strong economic return, according to figures in the 2018 annual report released by Science Foundation Ireland.
Last year was a “significant year of collaboration and achievement”, Heather Humphreys, minister for business, enterprise and innovation, said at the release of the report on 22 July.
The report showed that the foundation received €188 million from the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation which was invested in research. Meanwhile, research funding from industry jumped by 43 per cent from its 2017 level to reach €46m.
