The Royal Society and Science Foundation Ireland have picked four winners to share a total of €2.8 million in the 2019 round of a collaborative fellowships programme.
The awards, made under the Royal Society-SFI University Research Fellowship scheme, are designed to identify and support outstanding early-career researchers, said Ruth Freeman, director of science for society at SFI.
They are funded by SFI, but the Royal Society has a hand in picking the winners. Fellows are funded for up to five years, with the possibility of applying for competitive renewal for three more years.
