Ireland’s research department will receive €3.3 billion in 2021—up from €2.8bn in 2019—as part of an unprecedented budget shaped by the coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s Department of Further and Higher Education Research Innovation and Science is one of the main beneficiaries of a transformative budget proposed by the government on 13 October. The government will undertake record levels of spending and borrowing next year, as mapped out in the €17.7bn package.
