Government releases extra funds to widen access to higher education

An extra €307 million will be spent this year on higher education in Ireland, on top of the existing €2 billion annual budget, the Irish government has announced.

The Irish government said on 4 May that the additional funding would focus on “improving the quality of programmes, their outcomes, and providing a third-level education system which is accessible to everyone in society”.
