Ireland publishes race equality plan for higher education

Principles that combat racism to be signed by leaders and implemented across universities and colleges

Ireland’s Higher Education Authority (HEA) has published a set of anti-racism principles for Irish higher education institutions to help them become “leaders of positive change in society, to challenge racism and race inequality”.

The principles are meant to “embed a culture of race equality across higher education”, in light of growing ethnic diversity of staff and students in Irish colleges. Universities must become reflective of the diversity in Ireland’s population, according to the authority.
