Petition to limit public's exposure to unscientific opinion gathers 5,000 signatures
A group of Italian climate scientists and environmental activists have launched a petition asking the media to refrain from giving airtime to climate change opinions not supported by science.
The scientists ask Italian media organisations to “follow the example of the BBC, the Guardian and Le Monde” and stop giving the floor to “anti-scientific positions” on climate change and the role of human activities, after several controversial interviews were widely circulated in the social media. The move follows what the scientists said are unreasonable amounts of exposure of climate change deniers on the Italian version of Huffington Post and on the TV channel LA7.
