Italian institutions are failing to clearly communicate scale and purpose of animal experiments, conference hears

Italy’s scientific community is still reluctant to embrace transparency in animal research despite efforts to push for more openness, an event has heard.

National and international groups working in Italy—including the European Animal Research Association—are trying to change the way information about animal experiments is communicated and shared with Italian society, panellists said. But representatives from the Research4Life group, a consortium of Italian research institutions, said that progress has been slow.
