In depth: The Human Technopole, Italy’s new research institute for life sciences, has appointed a new head as it intensifies efforts to become an infrastructure serving the wider research community. Biologist Marino Zerial was appointed director last month, succeeding Iain Mattaj, who led the first phase of the institute’s development.
