Researchers’ fears over Italy’s far-right-led government have largely failed to materialise

Seven months have passed since the coalition government led by Giorgia Meloni of the far-right Fratelli d’Italia party was sworn in on 22 October 2022.

Controversies and concerns have swirled around many of its first political acts, including diplomatic rows with France and Spain and fights at home over LGBT rights. But the research sector so far seems blissfully unaffected.
