FOM en Microsoft werken samen in één van de Industrial Partnership Programmes (IPPs) van FOM. Het onderzoek richt zich op Majorana fermionen en wordt uitgevoerd aan het Kavli Institute of NanoScience bij de TU Delft. Majorana fermionen zijn elementaire deeltjes die hun eigen anti-deeltje zijn.
