Overarching plan could unite fragmented research and technology landscape, AWTI says

The Dutch government should develop a vision for the economy and society in 2050 in order to streamline activities in science and technology development, according to the AWTI, a national advisory council for science, technology and innovation. With such long-term planning in place, it would be easier for academia and companies to come up with radical innovations, the council said.

In a report published last week—Strengthening the Role of Science, Technology and Innovation in Societal Transitions—the AWTI said that the Netherlands faced the task of developing and implementing sustainable systems for energy supply, healthcare, food production and mobility.
