Coherent advice is sorely needed by politicians who are struggling to digest contradictory reports

As the Netherlands emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic, politicians are turning to future challenges—in particular, writing their manifestos ahead of the general election in 2021.

This is the time for organisations to lobby for good science and innovation policies. A spate of reports and position papers have appeared, all aimed at convincing the country’s future government of why science matters and how it should be done.
