Wageningen and Delft secure €14.5m for microbe platform

Joint initiative aims to harness ‘mixed cultures’ of microorganisms for use in industry

The NWO, the Dutch national research council, has allocated €14.5 million to a research platform that will push the use of microbes as an industrial solution to some of the world’s biggest problems.

The Unlock platform is a joint initiative of Wageningen University and Research and Delft University of Technology, which are together providing an investment of around €10m, taking the platform’s total funding to almost €25m.
