Structural changes are needed to increase overall R&D expenditure in the Netherlands, studies find
The consultancy Dialogic has called for the Dutch government to provide more guidance to businesses on the best areas for R&D spending, as it revealed the results of a survey on business spending during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The survey, commissioned by applied research organisation TNO and conducted by Dialogic, questioned 462 workers about their companies’ R&D activities in 2020. It showed that companies in the Netherlands had made a concerted effort to maintain R&D spending during the Covid-19 pandemic but that many had invested less than planned.
