Hotline will help people who feel intimidated by public threats or discriminated against at work

From this autumn, scientists in the Netherlands will be able to report threats and discrimination to a central government hotline, science minister Robbert Dijkgraaf has said.

According to the news website NOS, Dijkgraaf said that scientists needed an information and reporting centre, contact points and a hotline to call in case they experienced threats. His decision to establish these services follows several tense years during which scientists—especially those working on Covid-19 and making recommendations to reduce the virus’s spread—have come under more public scrutiny.
