Concern over dip in international students and cap proposal

Dutch universities sound warning over drop and criticise political party leader’s plan to cap numbers

Preliminary figures suggest that fewer international students started undergraduate courses this academic year in the Netherlands, with a slight increase in the number of those on master’s programmes.

The drop is causing concern at the UNL Association of Dutch Universities and interim president Jouke de Vries has called for politicians to avoid taking “radical measures” that could damage Dutch research and education.
