Pilot projects launched to reorganise Dutch academic year

Government-funded programme aims to free up research time and relieve student stress

Dutch universities are taking part in a pilot scheme to reorganise the academic year, in order to reduce stress for students and researchers.

The scheme, launched on 28 March at the University of Amsterdam, will reorganise the timing and duration of some academic events, including exams and term times. These revisions are intended to spread the workload for students more evenly throughout the year, while giving academics additional time to focus on research and science.
