Norwegian researchers asked to be ‘honest brokers’

Modern politics fuel need for independent expertise, says head of Norway's academy of sciences

If researchers are to convince the public of the need for better funding of social sciences and climate change studies they must become better at communication, a scientific leader has said.

Øystein Hov, secretary general of The Norwegian Academy of Sciences, published an article this week on research policy website Forskningspolitikk. In it he called on academics to grow more adept at making their case for research of social significance, including sustainability and global warming.
