Report criticises influence of experts and dearth of systematic planning
Swedish innovation initiatives in charge of billions of kroner have come under fire from auditors over shortfalls in their control, planning and monitoring of funding.
A report by the Office of the Auditor General, released on 17 March, came down hard on the Swedish government’s investments in the Strategic Innovation Programme (SIP) and the Strategic Collaboration Programme (SVP). The schemes—launched to support innovative research and increase collaboration with industry—have a combined value of around 9 billion Swedish kroner (€700 million).
