One-third of Norwegian professors are female, report finds

Gender equality in academia inches closer, but best science institutions lag behind

Norway has achieved the highest rate of female professors in its history, according to the country’s Database for Statistics on Higher Education (DBH), with one-third of university and college professors being women.

The figures from DBH reveal that the proportion of women is now 50 per cent across all higher education teaching posts, as well as in communications. The proportion of women in general scientific positions has increased from 41.7 per cent in 2010 to 48.5 per cent this year.
