Extra courses offered to struggling students, rural regions and unemployed young people

The Swedish government is to spend 1.8 billion krona (€177m) on professional training and degree courses for young people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The fund will go towards people in long-term unemployment and those who lost their jobs because of the economic and social fallout from measures introduced to reduce the spread of Covid-19. Announcing the programme, the Swedish government said that unemployment in early life can affect a person’s success chances on the labour market “for a long time”.
