Finnish decision makers need more insight, report finds

Analysis of strategic research performance by University of Tampere reveals dearth of communication

The funding instrument for strategic research of the Finnish Strategic Research Council (SRC) needs to encourage closer interaction between researchers and decision-makers, a report has found.

An evaluation by the University of Tampere found that the scheme had led to “valuable insights”, but that policymakers were often not aware of these results. The report examined whether the SCR’s strategic research had achieved its objectives in the period between 2014 and 2020.
