Research council chair wants ‘brave decisions’ on infrastructure

Incoming Swedish Research Council head Irene Wennemo promises review of infrastructure spending

Irene Wennemo, the incoming chair of the Swedish Research Council, has promised a review of spending on research infrastructure—including making decisions on what projects to shut down.

Wennemo, who has a PhD in sociology, took over the role of board chair on 1 January. In the announcement that she had started her role, she urged the council’s board to prepare to make “brave decisions” on research infrastructure.
