Fall in papers produced by Swedish universities

Higher Education Authority finds technology the worst-affected discipline

Statistics from the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) reveal that the number of research publications from Swedish universities showed a slight decrease in 2022 compared with the year before.

In 2022, just under 65,000 research publications were published at Swedish universities, a decrease of approximately 4,000 compared with 2021. The decline is primarily due to the fact that fewer scientific articles overall were published in 2022, and the decrease was apparent in all subject areas.
