Swedish council expresses concerns over research freedom

   

Landmark report criticises “political control” of academics’ choice of topics and lack of ethics debates

In order for Sweden to continue to be an innovative country, universities and government must do more to protect research freedom, warns a report.

According to the Swedish Research Council, generally good intentions towards freedom of research and legal support offered by universities are not enough to keep research free from outside influences.
