Lack of communication frustrates Swedish researchers

Survey finds external and internal obstacles to growing dissemination skills

Sweden’s researchers want to communicate their findings to the outside world but are frustrated by external and internal obstacles.

A survey of 3,700 researchers at Swedish universities and colleges carried out by Vetenskap & Allmänhet (Science & Public) found that more than half of the respondents (51 per cent) want to spend more time talking about their research and communicating important results. But they are stymied by many factors, including lack of time, a dearth of skills and lack of knowledge about how to reach target groups.
