Sweden’s middling citation rates remain a mystery, says research council

There is no clear reason for the low citation rates of research papers written by Sweden’s researchers compared with some other leading research nations, a report published in December has found.

The report from the Swedish Research Council Vetenskapsrådet, published on 18 December, compares Sweden’s research performance with that of Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK, based on citations.
