Young researchers formally band together in Spain

The Spanish government has signed off the establishment of the Young Academy of Spain to represent early-career researchers in the country.

Spain’s ministry of science, innovation and universities announced on 29 May that it had formally approved the academy. “This new scientific institution will represent and give visibility to young scientists, preferably from the field of experimental sciences,” the ministry said.

Specific objectives will include promoting science as a career option among young people, lobbying for policies to increase equality in academia, and supporting international researcher exchanges and collaboration.
