Researchers must be ‘even better prepared and connected’ for ‘more competitive’ R&D calls, plan warns

Public research organisations in Portugal have published a plan to double Portuguese participation in EU programmes in 2021-27, including the next iteration of the R&D programme, Horizon Europe.

Devised by the Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network and published on 16 November, the plan ultimately aims for Portugal to increase the funding it receives for research and innovation from EU programmes to €2 billion. As of August, it says, Portuguese participants had won just over €1bn from the 2014-20 EU R&D programme, Horizon 2020.
