Austrian R&D strategy aims at catching up with peers

Government set to boost three-year public research, technology and innovation budget by 27 per cent

Austria’s government has adopted a 10-year strategy for research, technology and innovation that aims to “bring Austria closer to Europe’s innovation leaders”, according to the Austrian Science Fund, the country’s main funder of basic research.

The 2030 strategy, adopted in December 2020, demonstrates “a clear commitment by the federal government to [promote] Austria’s innovative strength through science and research”, the FWF said on 19 January.
