Switzerland and Israel agree deal to make cooperation easier

‘Lead agency’ deal means researchers can submit one grant application for funding from both countries

Researchers in Switzerland will be able to cooperate more easily with colleagues in Israel, under a deal struck by funding agencies in the two countries.

Scientists can submit a single grant application for projects with partners in countries the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) has so-called ‘lead agency’ deals with, including the US and Germany. The Swiss National Science Foundation announced on 22 August that Israel would join the list, following an agreement with the Israel Science Foundation.
