Denmark’s Technical University in Copenhagen will host the country’s first centre for research into ocean life, it announced on 7 October. The cross-disciplinary centre will be funded with 30 million kroner (€4m) from the non-profit Villum Foundation.
The aim of the research is to “develop a fundamental understanding and predictive capability of marine ecosystems”, according to the centre’s website. There are plans to fund both PhD and postdoctoral fellowships as well as international workshops, and there will be a visiting research programme.
