In five years Denmark will be short 6,000 graduates, the Chamber of Commerce warned on 15 July. The number of students applying to Denmark’s eight universities has boomed this year, peaking at 35,000, up 7 per cent from last year.
“But the prospect of many rejections is unsatisfactory. In a few years, we will lack skilled workers, and if we don’t have enough graduates it will lead to companies opting out of [investing in] Denmark”, said Emilie Wedell-Wedellsborg, a consultant with the council.
