Siemens boosts Denmark’s climate ambitions

Denmark's ambitious target of becoming fossil fuel independent by 2050 has received a boost in the form of a 1 billion kroner (€150m) wind power investment by German engineering firm Siemens.

The money, which will be spent over the next two years, will go towards the establishment of R&D facilities in the Danish cities of Brande and Aalborg as well as an expansion of production in Denmark to meet a growing demand for offshore wind plants across Europe, Siemens said in a statement on 15 June.
