Denmark slashes 600m kroner off research budget in 2012

Denmark’s government has proposed that next year’s public research budget will be cut by 600 million kroner (€80.5m), compared to the 2011 budget.

The state budget proposal, published on 24 August, includes a total of 18.7bn kroner for research and higher education in 2012, which puts the budget back to 2010 level. But public spending on research will still amount to 1.1 per cent of GDP, according to the proposal.
