Male scientists dominate elite research programme

Only four of the 33 grantees announced under Denmark’s Sapere Aude elite initiative, which gives grants to gifted young researchers, are women.

The chairman of Denmark’s research council, which oversees the grant initiative, said that this is “unfortunate”. Writing in the Politiken newspaper Jens Christian Djurhuus called for efforts to increase the number of women in post-doc and senior research positions.
