Niche humanities research programmes at the University of Copenhagen have been given an annual financial boost worth 1.25 million kroner (€167,700) to ensure their survival, the university said on 29 August.
In Denmark, university faculties receive government funding based on the number of students enrolled in programmes and whether they pass exams. The subjects to receive funding all have a maximum of 12 students. Among the programmes are Greek, Latin, Balkan studies and Turkish.
