Chinese academy honours Aarhus professor

Aarhus University physicist Flemming Besenbacher has been appointed a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Besenbacher will join the CAS’s chemistry division, where he will have the chance to influence the development of Chinese science and technology, according to an Aarhus University statement. He has previously worked to strengthen collaboration in nanotechnology research between China and Aarhus University’s nanoscience centre.

“Throughout the decade, the Chinese research budget has increased by 20 per cent a year, second only to the United States,” Besenbacher said. “It is crucial that we in Denmark continue our well-established cooperation with China.”
