Minister warns of ‘over-academisation’

Sofie Carsten Nielsen, Denmark's research minister, has said that the country's education system should not become too “academic”, Politiken reports.

Nielsen said in an article that she would like to see fewer young people studying for masters degrees, commenting that the balance between graduates and people with a more practical education is becoming too skewed towards the former.

She went on to suggest that knowledge does not only come from a university education, and that there is a risk that Denmark will lack people who can bring more practical skills to the labour market.
