Role of staff in university decisions to be examined

The Danish ministry of education and science is to survey the extent to which universities involve staff and students in their decisions.

Since 2011, university councils have been required to ensure that staff and students participate in major institutional decisions. The ministry is now issuing a questionnaire to staff and students to see how closely this rule has been followed since its introduction.

A technical working group has been assembled to examine this issue, comprising the National Board of Higher Education, universities organisation Danske Universiteter, the Akademikerne association of academically-related trade unions, and the National Union of Students in Denmark.
