Lundbeck Foundation awards less money

The Lundbeck Foundation, which funds basic research, awarded 376 million Danish kroner (€50.4m) in grants last year, down from kr482m in 2012.

According to the foundation’s annual report, published on 8 April, the total amount awarded through grants dipped below kr400m “for timing reasons”. The total funding awarded covered the wages of 621 researchers at Danish universities, including 249 postdoctoral researchers and 197 PhD students.

Applicants to the foundation’s regular grants in biomedical sciences had a success rate of 10 per cent, whilst those applying for regular grants in the natural sciences had a 19 per cent chance to be successful.
