More collaboration between academics and businesses in the maritime industry is needed to boost Denmark’s competitiveness, a government advisory group has said.
In a statement, the Forskningspolitisk Kontaktudvalg for Tværgående Maritim Forskning group, which advises the government on maritime issues, urges academics and businesses to do more interdisciplinary research together. According to the group, pressure from the global market is putting a higher demand on Danish companies’ ability to commercialise products, and more input is needed from researchers to improve this.
In its conclusions, the group also highlighted that it is especially difficult for SMEs to participate in research projects, and said this should be a focus for the future.
