Research institute for organic food gets a go-ahead

The University of Helsinki has joined up with MTT Agrifood Research Finland, a public research institute, to establish Finland’s first research institute for organic food and production.

The institute will do research on the supply chain of organic food and social and economic implications of organic food production. The purpose of this work is to increase the profile of organic farming, offer training opportunities and create international networks, according to the Mikkeli University Consortium, which provides the centre’s infrastructure.
