Tekes to invest in equity funds

A law amendment taking effect in January will allow Tekes, the Finnish funding agency, to create a company for private equity activities.

The purpose is to reinforce and diversify funding available to early-stage start-up companies in Finland. Starting in 2014, Tekes plans to give money to equity funds that invest in start-ups.

The law amendment also changes the official name of Tekes to the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, but it will still be referred to as Tekes.
