Researchers should be given more opportunities to apply for pan-Nordic funding, according to Finnish unions.
In a joint statement the Finnish trade unions Akava, STTK and SAK point out that the Nordic countries on their own are too small to stay at the top of international research and competitiveness. This is why there should be an increase in pan-Nordic funding opportunities, they say.
To facilitate this, the unions suggest that scientists should be allowed to use national research funding for collaborations with other Nordic partners, even if it means moving between countries.
