Evidence-based policy plan passed

The Finnish government has adopted a plan that outlines how research could be used better in support of policy-making.

The plan, adopted on 10 April, is split into five priority areas, around which research questions will be shaped. A working group on research, foresight and assessment, called the TEA working group, will coordinate this strategy along with funding calls to pay for research that informs policy questions.

The application period for submitting research proposals will run from May to August, and the second application round is from August to October. TEA will decide on the applications based on a set of criteria, including targeting, quality, scope and impact of research.
