Call to assess university-business cooperation

The Finnish government has invited companies to assess how well universities are collaborating with industry.

The exercise is part of an evaluation of university reforms launched by the ministry of culture and education. The ministry will host five workshops in March that aim to find out how universities have become more business oriented, from companies’ point of view.

Questions include how university-business cooperation has evolved, whether they are reacting sufficiently to changes in the economy, and how well teaching and research serves the purpose of industry, according to a statement published by the Confederation of Finnish Industries on 20 January.
